In the winter of 1990/91 Claasen takes on another very special project: The refit of the Lemsteraak yacht Annie Lavinia, built by the renowned Akerboom yard in Boskoop, and previously named Vaganda, Zonnekind’ and Sindbad. This classically lined yacht is suffering from serious leakage in the cabin roof, the cap rail has rusted and the chain plates are urgently in need of replacement.
In addition, the broken rudder needs to be repaired, along with the loose propeller shaft. By coincidence, Claasen stumbles across an even longer mast, enabling him to substantially increase the original sail surface area. The sum of these improvements make the Lemsteraak yacht, which is once again renamed Sindbad, a formidable competitor on the racing circuit.
