In recognition of its international portfolio of clients, in 2012 the company adopts the English-language name Claasen Shipyards. In the meantime, founder Nico Claasen has reached pensionable age and is no longer involved in the day-to-day running of the business, although he still lives in an authentic, self-restored, traditional Zaandam house next to the yard and takes great pleasure in offering advice when requested.
The fact that many of the company’s original employees remain with the business is a sign of the yard’s team spirit and pride in its work. Claasen’s motto ‘An eye for detail’ remains as true today as it has ever been.
