A classic beauty: The Dykstra 60 ft Pilot Cutter Perseverance

We are working full steam ahead on the 60 ft Pilot Cutter yacht Perseverance, due for delivery to her Dutch owner this coming June.

The aluminium hull was built by Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw in Makkum before being transported to the Claasen yard in Zaandam for outfitting. Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects, the owner of Perseverance requested a comfortable performance yacht with traditional exterior lines. As he has a background in shipping and a great passion for technology, the technical equipment onboard the yacht is of an exceptional standard. And so is the rest of the boat!

Clear brief

This is a fascinating project as the owner knows exactly what he requires for his dream yacht. For instance, he wants to be able to easily carry out maintenance on all systems onboard by himself. Perseverance has extensive technical equipment for a yacht of this size, making her particularly easy to operate. The owner can also sail with a limited crew: All sails are operable from the cockpit so there is no need to leave the safety of the deep cockpit during normal use.

Treat for the eyes

The design brief also specified a maximum draught of 2.6 metres. To achieve the right stability while avoiding the need for heavy ballast, we opted to fit carbon masts. The yacht has classic lines and masculine looks. A metallic bronze colour by BMW was chosen for the hull, the carbon mast is black and the cap rails are finished in solid teak. To further accentuate the powerful appearance, Perseverance‘s deck features very wide teak planks and an exceptional amount of space. She is sure to be a treat for the eyes in every respect.

Modern luxuries

The interior is modern, spacious and luxurious, and the thoughtful layout makes Perseverance feel much larger than her 62 ft length would suggest. The deckhouse has a generous sofa with great outside views, as well as a practical navigation table with a comfortable seat that is very stable when under sail. The below-deck galley is equipped with every appliance imaginable, while the cosy saloon features a U-shaped settee and two comfortable armchairs. The double cabins in the stern and bow both include ensuite facilities with toilet and separate shower.

After spending the first few weeks of the season sailing Perseverance in the Netherlands, the owner will set sail for the Mediterranean. Look out for her this summer!
