The owner of Perseverance is an experienced sailor with a background in shipping. He had a very clear idea of what he needed in his dream boat, specifying a comfortable performance yacht with traditional exterior lines. This resulted in an ambitious and fascinating project for the naval architects and yards.
Impressive specs
For example, the owner desired a boat that would be particularly easy to operate. He wished to be able to easily carry out maintenance on all onboard systems by himself. And the technical specifications called for equipment of an exceptional standard for a yacht of Perseverance’s size.
The owner also wished to be able to sail with a small crew, so all the sails can be controlled from within the cockpit. The design brief for Perseverance also specified a maximum draught of 2.6 metres. To achieve the right stability while avoiding the need for heavy ballast, Claasen opted to fit carbon masts.
A feast for the eyes
Perseverance is a delight to look at from every angle. She has classic lines and a masculine aesthetic: a metallic bronze colour by BMW was chosen for the hull, the carbon mast is black and the cap rails are finished in solid teak. To round off her powerful appearance, the yacht’s deck features very wide teak planks and an exceptional amount of space.
Perseverance’s interior is modern, spacious and luxurious, and her thoughtful layout makes the yacht feel much larger than her 62-foot length would suggest. DeVosdeVries Design from Amsterdam is responsible for the interior design and styling. The deckhouse sports a generous sofa with great outside views, as well as a practical navigation table with a comfortable seat that is very stable when under sail.
The galley below deck is equipped with every appliance imaginable, while the cosy saloon boasts a lovely U-shaped settee and two comfortable armchairs. The double cabins in the stern and bow both include ensuite facilities with toilet and separate shower.
