
On occasions during a yacht’s lifetime her course can take a remarkable turn. This was certainly the case with the Lemsteraak Schoillevaer, built in Aalsmeer in 1938 for the well-known Zaandam businessman, Willem Bruynzeel, director of the eponymous Zaandam wood mill and door manufacturer.
This stunning flat-bottomed yacht was sold to an American owner 10 years later and then disappeared from the public eye until being found by a resident of Edam. Claasen is commissioned to restore the neglected yacht and the project sets a new benchmark in sailing circles.
